 not only legitimized the Scramble for Africa and allowed foreign 
powers to claim African territory, but it also triggered a myriad
of changes that drastically altered the lives of African natives.
The Berlin Conference introduced foreign influences that left lasting consequences, which ultimately brought about the advancement,
but also the problems and unrest, of modern-day Africa.
